With anticipation building across Liberia’s United Methodist Churches, comprising twenty districts and two circuits, leaders convene to prepare for the upcoming 191st Annual Gathering. The Bishop’s Cabinet, spearheading discussions on progress and challenges facing the church, met ahead of the highly anticipated event.

The year-end cabinet meeting of the Liberia Annual Conference, The United Methodist Church, took place in Region One, with the Grand Bassa District hosting at the First United Methodist Church.

Reverend S. Snoh Myers, Sr., District Superintendent of the Sinoe District Conference LAC/UMC and Dean of the Bishop’s Cabinet, highlighted ongoing challenges, particularly concerning pastors’ salaries. He noted the arduous journeys some pastors face, walking five to six hours to reach their places of worship, especially in the southeastern districts.

In an interview with UMCTV-LIBERIA, www.liberiaumc.org, Elum 98.7FM, and Circuit Rider, Rev. Myers outlined the agenda, which includes discussions on program agencies, department heads, the Board of Ordained Ministry, the Commission on Way Forward, the global nature of the church, and appointments beyond the local church.

The 191st Annual session of the LAC/UMC, scheduled for Buchanan City from February 12-18, will unite pastors, lay members, deaconesses, government officials, and conference guests from home and abroad. Bishop Samuel Jerome Quire, Jr., Resident Bishop, will preside over the proceedings.

The Communications Department, led by Director Lewis Teah Togba, Sr., along with the team consisting of Station Manager Bro. Edward Massaquoi, Operations Manager Shammah Dorbor, Online TV Coordinator Michael Boeglay, Reporter Emery Watson, and IT Specialist Isaac Fred, will provide comprehensive coverage across various platforms.

UMCTV-LIBERIA, www.liberiaumc.org, Elum 98.fm, and Circuit Rider Newspaper are set to deliver live updates, ensuring all participants and stakeholders stay informed and engaged throughout the event.
