The Monrovia District Men Organization recently celebrated its annual District Father’s Day with a strong call for fathers to uphold their responsibilities. The event, held at Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Central Monrovia, featured a poignant message from Reverend Rodney Marshall.
Reverend Marshall emphasized the importance of fatherhood and highlighted the negative impact of neglectful fathers on their families. He urged fathers to fulfill their responsibilities for the betterment of their homes and communities. He also encouraged fathers and the church to be ministry-oriented to rescue those in need.
The 18th President of the Monrovia District Men Organization, Baryou Wallace, expressed gratitude for the attendees and prayed for unity within the church during challenging times. He emphasized that unity would help the church overcome difficulties and bring glory to God.
Father Jonathan George, newly crowned District Father of the Year 2024/25, expressed his gratitude to God and the organization’s leadership for the honor. The celebration, held under heavy rain, brought together United Methodist men and women to honor the district’s men for their contributions to the church, society, and humanity.
Other honorees included Father Pei Edwin Gausi as the Distinctive Personality and Fathers Greg W. Bedell and Augustus W. Thomas as Outstanding Fathers of the Year 2024/2025. The organization also presented a trophy and certificate to the winner of the Father Victor K. Seah Memorial Tournament, with the runners-up receiving a certificate to motivate other local churches for future tournaments.
Reverend Samuel Karyeah, representing Bishop Samuel Quire, made a special remark during the celebration. He called on United Methodists to pray for Bishop Quire, who recently faced an attack along with his delegation during a visit to the Gompa District Conference. Reverend Karyeah reassured the congregation that the United Methodist Church would remain strong and urged members to pray, stay united, engage in dialogue, and trust in the Lord.
He also urged the church members to refrain from violence and attacks on one another, emphasizing that the current struggles within the church are for the Lord to resolve.
