A pro-democracy organization, “The Faith and Justice Network” has called on Liberia’s

two leading parties in the November 14 presidential runoff election, the Coalition for

Democratic Change and the Unity Party to exhibit good moral conduct during the

Campaign period  next  Tuesday’s poll.

The Network’s Board Chairperson, United Methodist Bishop, Samuel J.  Quire Jr.  said the

eyes of the world are on Liberia and any negative action will reflect on the Country’s

Dedication to democracy.

Liberia’s Incumbent President George Weah of the CDC and main Opposition leader Ambassador Joseph

Boakai of the UP, who were the two top candidates in the October 10, 2024 first round election failed

to get the required 50% plus one vote. The two ,  will be facing each other next Tuesday in a second

round, in this case either candidate can win with a simple majority.

Addressing a Press conference in Monrovia recently, Bishop Quire cautioned

Politicians affiliating with the UP and CDC to campaign responsibly and with the

Highest regard for civility and respect.

According to the Faith and Justice Network’s Board Chairman, it is important to

Maintain the peace and stability in Liberia during the critical period in the countries

History.

Bishop Quire made it clear that Liberia depends on the collective responsibility of all

Stakeholders to ensure the success of the presidential run-off election in the Country.

He commended Liberians for the manner in which they conducted themselves during

the October 10, 2023 , 2023 Presidential and legislative elections,; adding : “ your

Commitment to the democratic process and peaceful participation are commendable.”

 Saying in his words, the integrity and transparency demonstrated by NEC (National Elections Commission)  and the collective responsibilities of all stakeholders in ensuring the success of the elections because it is a demonstration to the progress we have made as a nation in upholding

Democratic values.

Bishop Quire said, all Liberians should recognize the hard work of NEC and

International partners in organizing a credible and more peaceful electoral process.

The Bishop of the Liberia Episcopal Area United Methodist Church commended the Unity Party and the

Coalition for Democratic Change   for their commitment to the democratic process and their desire to

Participate in the upcoming presidential run0off election on November 14, 2023 in Liberia.

According to him, the success of the Country’s democratic journey hinges on the

Willingness of the political leaders to uphold the principles of fairness, integrity and

Respect for the rule of law.

“It is essential that we maintain the peace and stability in Liberia during this critical

Period and let’s refrain from hate speech, incitement and action that could

Undermine the harmony and security of our nation.”

“The electorates should have the opportunity to make informed choices without fear

Or intimidation and let’s be exemplary in our conduct, showing the world that Liberia

is a beacon of democracy in the region.

. “We emphasized the importance of remaining peaceful and law abiding during the electoral process because our   participation in the elections is integral to our democracy,” said the Chairman of the

Faith and Justice Network Board.
