Gbarnga, Bong County — The Resident Bishop of the Liberia Annual Conference of The United Methodist Church (LAC/UMC), Bishop Samuel J. Quire Jr., has encouraged principals of United Methodist school System to remain focused and dedicated to their call of service in shaping the future leaders of Liberia through quality education.

Bishop Quire made the remarks in Gbarnga, Bong County, when he addressed participants at the ongoing Principals’ Association Capacity Building Training held at the William V. S. Tubman-Gray United Methodist High School.

Bishop Quire emphasized the importance of continuous professional development and urged the school leaders to take advantage of the training to improve their administrative and instructional leadership skills.

“It is good to be adequately equipped within our areas of service in order to perform with excellence,” Bishop Quire stated. “I want to encourage you to remain focused on doing what you do best in these schools you lead. You have a sacred responsibility to educate, guide, and inspire our students to become productive citizens and faithful disciples.”

He further reminded the principals that their work aligns with the mission of The United Methodist Church — “to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.”

The capacity-building training, organized by the Department of General Education and Ministry (GEM) of the LAC/UMC, aims to strengthen the leadership and management capacity of school principals for effective educational delivery across United Methodist institutions.

The event is being facilitated by Rev. Matthew Barcon Borbor, Director of General Education and Ministry, along with a team of education specialists and facilitators from the conference.

Principals from Bong, Margibi, and Montserrado Counties are participating in the weeklong training, which covers key topics such as school administration, effective communication, ethical leadership, financial management, and faith-based educational standards.

Rev. Borbor lauded the commitment of the participants and noted that such initiatives are essential to maintaining the high academic and moral standards associated with United Methodist schools in Liberia.

The training forms part of the church’s broader effort to promote academic excellence, moral integrity, and spiritual growth in all its educational institutions nationwide.
