Monrovia, Liberia – Rev. Boyd B. Davies, Director of the Board of Pension, Health Benefits, and Pastoral Welfare at the Liberia Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church, delivered an inspiring sermon during the regular devotion at the Martha Prout Dennis Memorial Chapel. His message, centered on the themes of disaffiliation and re-affiliation, was drawn from the biblical passage Luke 15:11-32, commonly known as the Parable of the Prodigal Son.
Speaking to the congregation, Rev. Davies emphasized the importance of faithfulness, unity, and the enduring grace of God. He likened the journey of the prodigal son to the challenges facing the church today, particularly in navigating issues of separation and reconciliation.
“The story of the prodigal son teaches us that, no matter how far we stray, God’s love remains steadfast, and His arms are always open to welcome us back,” Rev. Davies stated. “As United Methodists, we must remain committed to our faith, support one another, and work towards unity rather than division.”
The message resonated deeply with attendees, many of whom expressed gratitude for the sermon’s relevance in the current climate of the global Methodist community.
