Johnsonville, Monsterrado: The United Methodist University (UMU) has conferred an honorary Doctor of Divinity degree on Bishop James Boyce-Caulker of the Sierra Leone Annual Conference, in recognition of his outstanding leadership and significant contributions to the church and society. The prestigious award was presented during the 20th Graduation Commencement Convocation, held at the Liberty Christian Center in Johnsonville, where graduates, faculty, and alumni gathered to celebrate academic achievements and the continued growth of the university.
Bishop Boyce-Caulker, who has served the church with distinction for many years, was honored for his tireless work in advancing the cause of Christianity in West Africa. During the ceremony, Rev. Dr. Emmanuel F. In his acceptance speech, Bishop Boyce-Caulker humbly expressed his deep gratitude to UMU for the honor, acknowledging the significance of the award and reaffirming his commitment to continue championing education, faith, and humanitarian service. “I am deeply honored to receive this Doctor of Divinity (Honoris Causa) degree for my lifelong devotion to the Church, demonstrated leadership, and the effort to foster positive change and uplift communities through faith and service,” said Bishop Boyce-Caulker.
He encouraged the young people of Liberia to prioritize education and to uphold values of integrity, compassion, and selfless service to humanity, emphasizing that by doing so, they would make the world a better place for all. “I accept this recognition not just as an individual, but as a reflection of the collective work of all those who have supported and worked alongside me in advancing the work of the church,” he added.
